Nestled on 26 acres in the Shenandoah Valley, this small church opens to its wooded site- putting all who use it in contact with the cycles of light and the annual cycle of the seasons. The architecture was designed to reflect the congregation’s progressive mission of openness, community, and awareness of nature. A variety of educational, assembly, and administrative spaces were designed for openness and flexibility. The simple forms and materials  were used to reinforce the buildings  natural setting and echo the vernacular of the surrounding rural farming community.
